Strečno, near Žilina in northern Slovakia
Our base is at Gazdovský dvor in the village of Strečno, close to Žilina and at the entrance to the Malá Fatra region. Strečno lies on a major route across northern Slovakia and works naturally with visits to Terchová, Malá Fatra or onward travel towards the High Tatras.

Is this white-water rafting?
No. This is a sightseeing trip on a traditional wooden raft operated by local raftsmen, not sports rafting in an inflatable boat.
Do I need previous rafting experience?
No. The crew operates the raft, so passengers do not need rafting experience.
How long does the trip take?
The 7 km journey usually takes approximately 50–90 minutes, depending on river conditions.
Where does the trip start?
Individual visitors meet at Gazdovský dvor in Strečno. Transport from the base to the route’s starting point is provided.
Is transport to the starting point included?
Yes. Transfer from Gazdovský dvor to the starting point is provided.
Do I need to book in advance?
Advance booking or a phone call is recommended so we can confirm the most suitable available departure.
Can families with children join?
Families can join. Please contact us before booking if you need advice for very young children or have specific requirements.
Can I combine the trip with Strečno Castle?
Yes. The castle and raft trip make a natural combination for a half-day or full-day visit. Check current castle opening times separately.
When is the season?
The usual season is approximately April to October. Current dates and departures should always be confirmed before travelling.
What happens if fewer than 6 people are booked?
The trip operates with at least 6 participants in total. We can combine individuals, couples and smaller groups with other bookings; reserve or call ahead so we can confirm the nearest suitable trip.
